Our Mission:
If you live in
the Bay Area, then you know that finding great childcare
providers, and great childcare jobs, can be a stressful,
expensive, and time-consuming task.
But there ARE
great sitters out there – experienced, qualified and educated
individuals who delight in playing with, laughing with, and
teaching the kids in their care.
Likewise, there are great families out there as well –
families who respect and appreciate their nannies for the work
they do.
Bay SuperSitters
LLC was created to bring these sitters/nannies and families together!
The
main focus of the Bay SuperSitters list is
on occasional and part-time sitting jobs, and the approach is
unique. The Bay
SuperSitters list provides member families with a list of fully
screened
sitters and nannies in their area, whom they can contact directly as the need
arises, as often as they like.
Bay SuperSitters takes the hassle out of your childcare search!
About the
Founder:
Becky Meyer, upon
graduation from the University of Michigan, moved to the Bay Area
to pursue her interests in childcare and business.
In February 2000, Becky started the www.bay-area-sitters.com
website, which she built into the Bay Area’s largest free, unscreened child care job
website. (The site is under different ownership as of
January 2001, and is now part of a little-used paid site.)
The idea for Bay
SuperSitters had been in the works for a while, originally
designed as an on-line component to the website.
However, since careful screening requires face-to-face
interviewing of sitters and parents alike, the SuperSitters idea
moved offline, becoming the Bay SuperSitters here today (since
2002).
Becky has also
run an online business (the now defunct www.subletsource.com,
sold in September of 1999) and orchestrated eight dance music
events, but now focuses mainly on connecting parents with great
sitters and nannies through Bay SuperSitters.
"As a former
childcare provider, an agency owner, and a mom, I understand every
side of the childcare search, and enjoy connecting great families
and quality nannies for long-lasting relationships."
